A few months ago, a friend told my fiancee and I that we should check out downtown Hudson. Knowing we love icecream, he suggested we check out New City Microcreamer, adding Hudson has a wicked hip downtown area and we won’t be disappointed. Having grown up along 495 myself, I have an affinity for how beautiful the communities are along that stretch of Massachusetts highway, especially during the foliage change of a New England autumn. Each community has so much to offer that sometimes you forget they are more than just good places to go “yard sailing.”(For those of you that don’t remember yard sales they are what people used to do to get rid of their old stuff before the advent of Ebay)

Hudson is an old New England community that goes back to the 1600’s but feels as JP as anywhere. The main drag in Hudson offers a brewery in Medusa Brewing Company that won’t let you down with plenty of Beers to choose from and allowing you to bring outside food in. Further down Main St. is a heavenly Icecream place called New City Microcreamer which was hopping. Serving up huge portions of original homemade flavors it was as deliciously satisfying as the half Buffalo Chicken, half Hawaiian Pizza we got from Rail Trail Flatbreads which is on the other side of Main St. and is everything you could ask for in an eatery. Hudson has plenty to explore on a date night including Less Than Greater Than, an old fashioned SpeakEasy hidden someplace on Main St. (no spoilers from me)

Hudson is more than just a happening Main St., with lots of outdoor parks and open spaces including Assabet River Rail Trail which is a paved bike path that goes through 5 towns, one can see how Hudson could be an excellent place to call home. Located just north of 90 on 495, Hudson is well worth getting to know better if you’re looking to expand your home search or are just looking for that hip version of the burbs.
